In support of the UAE ‘Year of Reading’, Action Care rallied volunteers to create ‘Read With Me’ an initiative which provides regular one-on-one tutoring to reinforce Arabic and English reading skills for young students. Action Care teamed with Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Facebook, Rotaract and other partners to stock libraries and host literacy events at schools in Ajman, Sharjah and Dubai. Over 2,500 books have been added to the libraries of the under-resourced schools.
From my short experience with the Read With Me program, the positive impact it has on the children is undeniable. It gives the children much needed one-on-one attention and help in learning to read.
